The Argentina international has provided his backing to the 1 in 11 campaign, which aims to support underprivileged children

Global superstar Lionel Messi has been in the news this week due to a reported bust-up with Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique after being left on the bench for his side’s 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad last weekend.

The Argentina international’s club future has been a major talking point as a result, with Premier League teams, namely Chelsea, reportedly lining up multi-million bids to try and tempt the star to England.

However, with Messi returning to the Barca line-up to face Elche in the Copa del Rey in midweek, the star has distanced himself from speculation by lending his support to a charitable cause.

The four-times Ballon d’Or winner has become an ambassador for the 1 in 11 campaign, which aims to provide support to underprivileged children all over the world.

The new venture hopes to help young people achieve their ambitions through sport and education and is given its name due to the number of children across the globe that cannot go to school.
