Games give more than pleasure and entertainment. Many have been used as tools for solving social issues that cannot be tackled by other approaches.
“Design Game, Design Society” is a project by Thammasat University’s Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education and Banpu Public Company, encouraging students to create games based on social issues. The project’s objective is to allow students to learn through creative problem-solving activities, according to Assoc Prof Anuchat Poungsomlee, dean of Thammasat University’s Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education.
Open for students nationwide from Grade 10 to the first year of vocational education, the competition provides a chance for participants to turn social headaches into problem-solving through game design. They can also develop skills for thinking creatively, to encourage social awareness and allow them to develop into agents of change.
