Panel of 6 to plan strategy for out-of-school children


“The director of education will head a six-member working committee to work on a strategy on bringing out-of-school children back to school. The working committee will conduct a study of children at construction sites, children of sugarcane workers, brick kiln workers and others.

The working committee will study the issues related to such children and introduce schemes to bring them back to education. Despite the introduction of the Right to Education (RTE) Act in 2009, it is estimated that over three crore children in India and nine lakh in Maharashtra still remain out-of-school.”
