“I recently had the pleasure to visit Warwick University, in the English Midlands, to contribute to their distinguished lecture series. The title of my speech – ‘Getting every child into school and learning … why wait?’ emphasised learning as well as enrolment.
Even then it’s not enough to simply get them into school. Research suggests that 250 million children are in school, but learning barely anything. This is nearly as big a problem as them not attending school at all.
So what would it take to get every child into school and learning?”
