Kathmandu: Pana, a group of young education enthusiasts, are holding a symposium—Let’s Talk Education, on Saturday. The symposium, which aims to discuss the education system of Nepal and reflect on its underlying problems, will feature discussions based on four different streams—Humanising Science and Maths, Undertones of the Arts, Deciphering the Entrepreneur and (re)Thinking Sustainability.

According to the organisers, the symposium will go beyondpanel discussion. It will also focus on an interactive discussion where participants will share their ideas, problems and thoughts about the education system of Nepal. Sandesh Adhikari of Pana, speaking to the Post, said, “We established Pana to help start discussion and debate on Nepali education system because we realised that it lacked interdisciplinary approach.” He added, “But, since we are neither students nor professionals working in this field, we have very limited knowledge about the root of the problems. So, to learn about the core issues in education through the people who are actually a part of it, we have organised this discussion. We want to recognise the problems through this event and create plans for our future intervention in this field.”

Each discussion will be moderated by professionals from the respective streams. The moderators for the discussions include Sunoj Shrestha and Roshan Bhatta from Kharkhana on Humanising Science and Maths; singer Rohit John Chettri and poet Yukta Bajracharya on Undertones of the Arts; Rujen Singh from Edu-shala; Nishchal Banskota from Nepal Tea; Shirish Bhattarai from Voto Mobile, on Deciphering the Entrepreneur; and Kushal Gautam and Kripa Dangol on (re)Thinking Sustainability.
